Board Manual and Orientation Development

Make sure your new board members get off to the right start. I will work with you to create board manuals, develop orientation agendas, and lead orientation sessions for your new board members. You may want to invite the entire board to the orientation for a refresher session.

Board manuals include a wide range of documents organized for the board member. This includes information about the organization, important legal documents, board and committee information, contact information, and the responsibilities of board members. Board Recruitment Plan Training

All boards struggle with finding the right members. Let me help you plan for successful recruitment. Board recruitment planning includes:

  • A survey of current members and discussion about the skills, experiences, and other characteristics that are valuable to the group and will help the organization reach its goals.
  • Succession planning conversations that include board terms, cultivating a pipeline of future officers, and building deep and diverse leadership.
  • Plan development with ideal board member profiles, suggestions for identifying candidates and criteria for evaluation, recommendations for onboarding and general board development and training.
  • Training the full board on the recruitment process. Even if you have a nominating committee, it’s important for all board members be part of recruiting. We’ll discuss roles, tasks, and timelines and brainstorm networks and relationships that can be explored.
